Well, what a crazy, wonderful year 2009 was for my photography! God blessed me incredibly with so much more work than I’d expected. I am so thankful for each of you that allowed me to be a small part of your lives and your memories. As much of a blessing as it was for my business to grow so much by only word of mouth (seeing as how this blog was all the advertisement I had), it became-at times-almost a bit much for me to handle with three kids at home, homeschooling, church, etc. Shane and I endeavored to pray about what God had for us for this coming year, and struggled with what was best for our family. It’s best for me to work some right now, but we also knew that with the business growing the way it was, it was hard to draw the line where family came first, and our decision to homeschool our kids was our first calling. So, through all of that, I began contacting several “local” photographers, looking for work as an assistant/second shooter, and as door after door closed on us, we just continued to trust the Lord to lead us.
To make a long story short, God has opened up a door for me with DeannaKaye Photography in Louisville, a Christian husband/wife photography team. And, I am not going to be a second shooter, rather they have hired me as an Associate Photographer! What that means, is that I will still be the main photographer for my weddings/portrait sessions, but they will be handling all the contracts/editing/ordering. That will free up a lot of time for me to be home with the kids and not be on the computer every moment Shane is home or the kids are in bed!
It’s a real blessing, and we are excited to move forward in this.
So, what does this mean for you, my clients/future clients. For now, you will still contact me to book any regular portrait sittings. I still plan to mainly do portraits in the Frankfort area (if you are in the Louisville area, I would suggest DeannaKaye Photography!). From there, DeannaKaye will handle all of your orders. Rather than proof albums or physical proofs, they do all online proofing, which really makes it easier for you. And, as I stated earlier, I will not be doing my editing, so although my pictures will still be my work, the edits will be a bit different from what they have been, as Deanna and Eric will put their own “take” on my editing. But, they do lovely work, and I trust them 100% with my pictures (and there are few people I would give that creative permission to). So, go over to their website here and check out their work. I feel that they have a lot more to offer my clients (and will continue to grow in what they offer) than I would have been able to. There will also be some pricing changes for 2010, so please contact me for current pricing information.
If you are interested in booking me for a wedding for 2010, you will need to contact Deanna and Eric directly from their website here or you can contact me and I can forward your email to them. We’ve already had several meetings with brides/grooms for 2010 and it’s looking to be a busy 2010 season!
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Please pray with us as we embark on this new adventure, and thank you always for all your support and encouragement. It’s always a blessing.
God bless, Kari
