I am a full-time, stay at home, mother of three who also homeschools! I am a part-time photographer on the side. My journey in the world of photography started when I took a course in high school, oh so many years ago. I enjoyed it, but put down my camera for several years. When Shane and I had our first child, we decided to spend some money on a nice camera. I started taking pictures of my daughter and some of our friends. When friends started seeing the images I took , they began to take notice. I was asked to do my first wedding by a friend, and I said a resounding, “no!” But, I decided to hide in the background and take some black and whites for fun. While there, her photographer decided I had a good eye and took me “under his wings” and was really a mentor to me and gave me the encouragement I needed to just try. Shortly thereafter, I did agree to shoot my first wedding on my own, and found that I loved it. That was nine years ago.
I have been off and on with my photography for the nine years, as we moved from place to place, but finally decided God had given me a gift that I really loved doing. So, I am now the owner of Kari McGrath Photography, working out of my home when I decide I have time to do so. I have had the privilege of working with so many wonderful couples and families and seniors. I look forward to what’s ahead!
Update 9.05.09…..I am excited to announce that I am now an associate photographer with DeannaKaye Photography in Louisville for weddings. We are already meeting with clients and booking for the 2010 wedding season. If you are interested in hiring me for your wedding, you will now contact Deanna at deanna@deannakaye.com . This will allow me more flexibility and they are able to offer my clients more options than I have been able to offer them previously (coffee table albums, couture books, day after sessions, etc…) . Deanna, and her husband, Eric are great photographers, and I am so blessed that they have given me this opportunity to work with them.
If you are interested in booking regular portrait sittings with me , you can contact me at shaneandkari@gmail.com for more information.
